Something exciting this way comes. We will be talking to the other side of the World?

Details are being finalised for a Link Up with JD Rossouw from Wildeberg Winery in South Africa.

We will use the 70 inch monitor in the conference room to talk to JD as he introduces his wines that he has made in Francshhoek. He knows a thing or two after being voted Best Winery In South Africa two years running!

Using some of the best vines we will be tasting his Terriors and Coterie ranges.

Louis Boutinot is back!

The most talked about tasting last year was Louis and Waterkloof. We tasted the new Boreas wine in October last year, Jancis Robinson only got to taste it in February this year. Poor thing. She is so behind the curve. I will send her an invite for July so she can be up to date for her next weekly musing in The Times.

Here is the Waterkloof story so you can whet your appetite and think of the 8 wines we will be trying on the evening.

This South African vineyard consistently produces amazing wines in the most sustainable way.

New Vintages Tasting

We are back!
In the world of wine we delight in the New Vintages as they arrive and this is the time of the year they start to appear signalling the arrival of Spring. All the winemakers hard work and careful preparation is laid bare to the scrutiny of the paying public!

Paul will be showing New vintages of his personal favourites and will be making a few comparisons in what is termed vertical tastings. Identical wines of consecutive vintages, this will show how nature affects the natural product of wine.

October 19th Tasting: Wines from Waterkloof, South Africa.

This will be presented by Louis Boutinot, longtime global evangelist for this industry-leading, enviro-conscious and very classy winery.

Waterkloof is an independent, organic and regenerative wine estate owned by former sommelier, wine importer and French wine producer Paul Boutinot.

This stellar estate, situated a stones-throw from Cape Town and its wild, windswept Atlantic Ocean coastline, has somehow managed to attain the largest number of features of any wine producer, not only in Decanter's Weekday Wine Section (Decanter is the UK's most subscribed hard-copy wine publication), but also in Jancis Robinson MW's 'Wine of The Week' page on the UK's most subscribed wine website (Jancis is Financial Times wine writer and a wine advisor for The Royal Family).

Louis Boutinot (Paul's son) will be here with stories and insight a plenty, all served alongside a selection of fine, distinctive, food-friendly wines handcrafted in tiny quantities by talented young winemaker Nadia Langenegger and her team at Waterkloof.

1) Circumstance Cape Coral Rosé 2022

2) Circumstance Sauvignon Blanc 2022

3) Waterkloof Sauvignon Blanc 2022

4) Circle of Life White 2022

5) Circle of Life Red 2020

6) Circumstance Mourvèdre 2018

7) Circumstance Syrah 2018 and 2019

8) Waterkloof Boreas 2020

Musing on Malbec 28th September

Whether from Argentina, France, Chile, South Africa or Australia Malbec seems to be a perennial favourite. Here we will look at the grape in all its native glory. Comparing country, soil type and manufacturing method and prove does it really have to be oaked and from Mendoza Argentina?

8 Malbecs from around the World to be tasted. Now all that remains is to pick 8 from the 34 we sell!

£15 a ticket, £10 refundable against orders placed on the night (minimum £100 value). 7pm Thursday 28th September in the De Mornay Room, Howbery Park Manor House.

The wines of Northern Spain, showcased by our very own product manager and salesman in chief, Paul Fritz-Johnson, and based on highlights from his wine trip last year and all the pics he took.

Regions sampled will include Rioja, Rias Baixas, Utiel Requena, Rueda and Menade.

A selection of wines in the Boutinot portfolio from the Languedoc and the Rhone, South of France, presented by the wine maker John Sanderson.

Howbery Park, The Manor House, Thursday 13th July 7pm.

South of France 13th July

John is one of the illustrious winemaking team at our chief partner in wine, Boutinot, responsible for French own production. As such, his manor covers large chunks of southern French geography and some of the very best drinking at civilised prices.

He will be leading us through a small but well founded sample of their range and will leave no doubt of the wide ranging potential of this most significant region.

This tutored tasting led by John Sanderson will comprise 8 wines,  and the cost will be £15 a head. Space is limited so book your place quickly on this link:
