Our History

Welch & Co have been bespoke suppliers to the on-trade in and around Oxfordshire since the fine sunny vintage of 1988. We are a small firm, local and independent, dedicated to service and good wine - and we love what we do.

From March 2020, given the forced closure of all our bar, restaurant and theatre trade customers, in order to give us something to do during the day we began selling to private customers in our local community. S0 Pierre le Vin was born and this shiny new bespoke retail website.

Lots of mixed cases

We have above 350 wines and spirits in stock, a range we are constantly developing and that covers most producer countries (still studying Japanese and Indian wines!), styles and grape varieties and very largely focuses on the chief buying band of £8 to £20.

We taste, select and monitor all our retail offerings, avoiding bottles to be found on the multiples' shelves and focus very much on clean and genuine wines made with minimal intervention from man. If you get a headache from drinking our wines, you can blame the amount you drank rather than the laboratory taste-shaping ingredients all too commonly to be found in more highly branded bottles. In addition, the vast majority of our range is vegetarian and vegan friendly, not to mention a fast-growing number of organic wines.

We offer regular wine tasting events at the Manor House at our base in Howbery Park, Crowmarsh, so you can discover for yourself if we're making a good job of it: Next Tasting

Payment can be by online transfer or debit/credit card.

We will deliver free for orders of £75 in value by our own transport to addresses within 20 miles of our warehouse at OX10 8BA. For more details, see our Delivery page.
